“My thoughts trouble me.” (Psalm 55:2b, NIV)

Do your thoughts trouble you?

On Resurrection afternoon Cleopas and friend discussed troubled thoughts, their sandals slapping the sandy road to Emmaus. Jesus joined them but God kept them from recognizing Him.

“What in the world troubles you so?” He asked.

They stopped in their tracks, “Where in this world have you been not to know what’s happening?”

“Tell me,” He urged. Heads bowed, shoulders slumped, they walked, voicing their thoughts about the Nazarene, His crucifixion and now…

“Some of the women say, “The tomb is empty”. What do we do?”

“Can you not believe what the prophets said?” He spoke, explaining everything from the beginning.

Today, is there something you don’t understand? Is the sand in your sandals rubbing blisters on your soul? Tell it to Jesus as did the men on the road to Emmaus.

“And He walks with me and He talks with me; and He tells me I am His own.

And the joy we share as we tarry there;

none other has ever known.”

(From the Gospel Hymn, I COME TO THE GARDEN by C. Austin Miles)

Abba Father, thank you for listening to my troubles and revealing yourself in the middle of the muddle.

er has ever known.”
